2005 Nature's Best Awards Competition

The Mountaineers Photography Group has been selected as a
"Highly Honored Winner" in the Camera Club category of the
2005 Natures's Best Photography Awards competition

The annual Nature's Best Photography Awards competition, sponsored by Nature's Best Magazine, is one of the most prestigious nature photography competitions in the world.  More than 14,000 entries were submitted in 2005 from 25 countries.  From this extraordinary collection of photographic talent, just 130 pictures were selected to be featured in the special fall Collector's Edition of Nature's Best Photography magazine.

In early 2005 (and for the first time), the Mountaineers Photography Committee submitted a group entry of 20 images in the camera club category.  In late August, they were notified that their club had been chosen as a Highly Honored Winner in the Camera Club category of the 2005 Nature's Best Photography Awards competition.

Fall 2005 Collector's Edition issue of Nature's Best Photography magazine

Thanks to Margaret Larkin of The Mountaineers Photo Group and her committee (Don Larkin, Sue Cromarty, Sunny Walter, and Bruce Savadow) for putting this all together.

Thanks to the Mountaineers Photo Group judges (Bob Johnson, Gary Luhm, Bruce Savadow, and Sunny Walter) who stayed up until 1:00 in the morning to finish judging 278 entries and choose 70 semi-finalists.  (Yes, we did ask our very best photographers to judge, but they couldn't score their own images and had to pass the test of the other 3 judges to get into the semi-finals).
 
A special thanks to Darrell Gulin, professional photographer extraordinaire, who selected the winning group of 20 images from our 70 semi-finalists.  We really appreciate your help, Darrell.
