Jihad, or holy war against infidels, the non'believers, has been conducted in the name of many gods through the ages. In the name of god, the Hebrews invaded the land of Canaanites and spilled their blood. In the name of Caesar, revered as a god, the Romans invaded the Mediterranean territories. Blood wept upon its shores for hundreds of years and eventually flowed north into early Europe. In the name of the same, Christians were crucified, and when the Christians became the rule of the land, for hundreds of years more, Christian crusades sought the blood of non'Christians. People were dehumanized in the name of Jehovah, Allah, or Caesar. Whether simply called non'believers, heathens, infadels, or goyim, they were dehumanized, which gives a license to militant male hierarchies to overlord them in any way they wish.
Most certainly, whenever blood was sought in god's name, that blood lust had more to do with the control of the few over the masses than any spiritualism respecting humanism and all that lives.
As religious imperialism receded, Old World Islamic Jihad, OWIJ, remained within the recesses of the world. As the world embraced more and more humanism and human rights, OWIJ became more threatened. Its clergy, once with a firm grip on its great masses is waning.
What happened to Jihad in defense of Islam practice?..when freedom of religious belief was at stake. Since most of the civilized world allows freedom of religious practice, perhaps the question is simply a matter of what remains, what has always existed on the Serengeti Plain. Violence in the name of Allah, God, Jehovah crusades or Jihad..is not spiritualism, or the need to practice one's own form of spiritualism, but merely alpha'male societies cloaked in religious robes.
The world is experiencing the last remnants of an old world order. The OWIJ clerics, in the name of God, murder to maintain control of the hearts and minds of the innocent and poor. They exercise the god proxy with their alpha male hierarchy, as it has been done for millennia since the beginning of human civilization.
