In my youth, I had, along with all my contemporaries, a very large relatively undefined ego as my only significant asset. I decided, however, to exchange it, bit by bit, for understanding and for as much relevant knowledge I could get, or else battle the world. I chose to battle for knowledge and understanding, which comes from experience and contemplation, subjective or objective. Gnosis or wisdom, the depth that accumulated knowledge brings, is what I ultimately needed. Actually...information, knowledge, understanding, and gnosis, in that order.
