Archipelago 9.5

Archipelago is a graphical MOO interface which allows multiple players connected through the Internet to meet, interact and explore in a two-dimensional virtual world. It requires a Macintosh with a minimum 14-inch monitor, HyperCard 2.x and a dial-up or MacTCP-mediated connection to the Internet. For more information, send e-mail to John Beezer: bisquik@eskimo.com.

You can download a copy of the Archipelago interface directly from this web site. It's a self-extracting archive (.sea) and it's been binhexed (.hqx) so you'll need a program like StuffIt to un-binhex it. (Archipelago 9.5 is about 400k compressed and about 800k expanded. At 14.4, it takes about 5 minutes to download. StuffIt is freely available throughout the net. I recommend doing a gopher search and downloading a version that it stored as a self extracting archive (.sea))

You can get a better idea how Archipelago works by reading the documentation.

Archipelago is more fun when there's a group of people visiting it at one time--especially people who don't know each other. For that reason, I'd like to suggest that you attempt to visit the game at noon on Sundays (Pacific Coast Time, US)--that's when you're most likely to find other people there.
